The focus problems are there, but not that big a deal in my mind. I think the DOF is nice, though perhaps if the entire leaf were not in focus it would look better if both ends were out of focus? Kinda nitpicky, though, and certainly not enough to explain your score...

I think it would have been better to gently spray the leaf so the drops remained nice and round; maybe even dab them on individually. That would have made (to my mind) a huge difference.

Overall, I think this is a much nicer shot than its score gives it credit for. Nice job.

Great concept - execution needs some work, I think. Be nice if it were in the dirt! And also if the image in the marble were a little more clear.

I like it because it has an almost painting-like quality to it; it's composed of large relatively uniform blobs of color that still communicate what it is. I feel like it communicates the "gesture" of a flower without feeling the need to reproduce a flower; since not very much photography goes in this direction it speaks to me.

Lighting leaves something to be desired... I'd try to fill that shadow, and also lighten the whole thing a bit; it's a bit flat and grey.

I don't think I've ever been quite so confused by an image here... Technicals are very good; maybe could have reduced the reflection in the top right, but whatever; I like the little bit of tape... But... it's just such an odd choice of subject.

Since I'm obviously facinated by it I guess it's effective. So 9.
