Staircase Number Sixby RLangsComment: Argh! The gamma is off on the monitor I'm using right now. Nice strong composition here with the curving lines. The bad thing is the monitor is too dark, so the stairs are melding together as we follow them down. The lines themselves aren't quite smooth, which makes my eyes hop around the page a bit much. 8 |

A walk on the beachby jab119Comment: This is just cool. I love the waves breaking behind the bird. YOu also have a great angle on the shot. Nice and low, it really makes you feel part of the action. I also like the hint of a reflection on the sand. 9 |

Yuma Territorial Prisonby ArtifactsComment: Ah yes, the forboding skys of the American West. :) There's a lot of history in Yuma. I don't think most people know about that. By accident or design you've captured the spirit of that place. Dark, forboding, and with a hint of a promise of freedom. Makes me miss Colorado even more. 9 |

Gone Fishin'by KonadorComment: This is one of those wow moments. Right time, right place, and a little bit of prep work. The color of the water really makes the colors of the beak stand out. Nicely cropped. I wish I had been there. :) 8 |

Concentrationby NinjaMomComment: a great storytelling portrait here. You can feel the focus and intensity. I'd move the bottle by her elbow and the whatever it is you can see through her hair. Both items distract a bit. 7 |

Niagara at Nightby Resusit8uComment: Stunning. Just...wow. This is awesome. The dark water exploding into white falls and foam. I never thought you could get this kind of shot at the falls. It's mystical and etherial. I love it. 10 |

Grandpa and Grandson Christmas Day 04'by pahlComment: This is a great shot for the scrapbook. :) One of the keys in photography is deciding if you want an artistic image, or a snapshot. For me, a snapshot is something that just documents an event. It doesn't create a sense of connection between the image and the viewer. It tends to require the viewer coming from a specific frame of reference. This is a classic snapshot. Which isn't a bad thing at all. :) The next time you take this kind of shot, think a little about what's going on behind the action. Try and move youself to better optamize use of blank walls, or background that better demonstrate the story you are trying to tell. In this case, the doorway is distracting from the curiosity on the little boys face. |

In love at midnightby eirasiComment: My favorite kind of image is one that clearly tells me a story. This one captures that. YOu can see the interest between the couple. The low sun just serves to accent their interaction- it's not dominating the shot. 8 |

Monaby cbellerComment: Very well done. I like the use of duotone here. It's a sensual image without being overtly sexual. Good lighting as well. 8 |

Portrait of Majestyby CantiqueComment: This isn't one of the technically strongest images I've seen, but there's something captivating about it. I find myself wanting to see what the eagle see's off camera. I think moving a tad to the right might seperate the eagle more from some of the background clutter. That could help strengthen the whole composition. 8 |
