Natural Neonby JadeComment: You've captured the neon colors but it appears to be at the expense of the image. The flower appears very processed (oversaturated, perhaps?). I think the extreme post-processing would have worked with a tighter crop--perhaps just the edge of the flower and some of the yellow? It would create a more dynamic composition which could carry the weight of the digital processing. As it is now, the composition, showing the flower in it's entirety in it's environment, is too natural for the unnatural effect. I hope I'm making my point well. ;-D |

fading into the past...by _wu_Comment: This is an interesting abstract. I can't help thinking the black cap (or whatever it is) intererrupts the flow a bit. I think if it was a solid black circle---if it didn't have the glares and the line bisecting it, it would form an interesting coil or swirl shape accenting the green. That is a problem which is easily fixed with the clone tool, once the challenge is over. |

East Side Roosterby johngoComment: This is a fun sign. I'm thinking, with this looking up POV, a vertical format might have been more appropriate. He looks rather squashed into the horizontal picture plane. While the sign is cute and interesting, I'd like to see it from a less literal POV. This comes rather close to being a literal interpetation of an existing art work. What saves it from that is that it is a night shot which requires some skill on the part of the photographer to capture. |

20 cents neonby PhileineComment: Very nice abstract study. I like the subtle play of light on the coils. Or at least the appearance of light. A second glance makes me think the coils are somewhat marblelized. Either way, it works. |

reflecting cactusby petspicsComment: I would suggest cropping out the area of black at the top as it introduces a jarring angle which distracts the eye with no payoff. Unfortunately, you've also seemed to capture your own reflection (or that of something else) which is a bit distracting. The lighting seems a bit drab, almost like daylight, and doesn't enhance the shot. This kind of looks like one shot superimposed on another. The neon sign and the reflection of the windows don't harmonize well. I'm finding that the neon intrudes on an interesting study of the window reflections. |

Ferris Wheelby BeeGeeComment: Very good motion blur capture. I like the simple composition and the black background. I'm left kind of wanting to see the circle completed, however. This may have been impossible to achieve while retaining the simple background, or the cropping may just be what you wanted to see when you made the shot. It's just my opinion. It's a striking shot. |

Neonsinkby HundaComment: This appears to be a color-shifted, or inverted shot of a sink with NEON sprayed in shaving cream.
It might have worked better in sharper focus and if you had taken a second to remove the bottle of handsoap which adds nothing to this idea. I'm not sure there would be much improvement, however. It's not a shot I would suggest attempting a second time. I'm not finding much of interest to capture my attention and I'm not a fan of 'negative' images. I will give you credit for using your imagination to create a neon effect. |

FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIESby SDWComment: This building has potentional as good subject matter. However, the cars in the parking lot, and the big chunk of the middle section of the building take up the majority of the picture frame without adding much. The middle section could perhaps be interesting if we could see people walking past (I can't tell if that is actually a passageway, it appears to be). My suggestion would be to return and focus on the tower of spiral lights at the right of the building, since that seems to have the biggest payoff in terms of interest. And by all means, move in closer to your subject and eliminate the distractions. |
