Crowd? You've used minimal depth of field but how is the kids mother and one other person a crowd? This beach looks deserted to me.

Crowd? One guy way in the background is not a crowd. She is singled out because she is pretty much alone. This seems to have missed the point of the challenge.

"Drop your fear of candids this week and single-out a *person in a crowd* as your source of composition. Use minimal depth-of-field to your advantage to help isolate your subject, and as always, be creative"

Where is the crowd in this shot? You've isolated the subject from her background but it is impossible to discern whether she is in a crowd or in her own backyard.

While you have been creative and you have used minimal DOF to isolate your main subject you ignored the main idea which was, from my understanding, to take a candid in a crowd. I few toys isn't what I would call a crowd and it is debatable whether this is a candid rather than a posed shot.

This is a nice image. It seems to me that the subject is isolated less due to minimal DOF and more by the fact that the viewer can't see the faces of the other sheep. This does isolate the subject from a crowd and I can see that minimal DOF was used but all the sheep could have been in focus and the main subject would still be isolated. I don't know which way to go on this because it doesn't seem like minimal DOF was the creative technique behind the photo. I do like the photo (although I feel like the main sheep's face could be a bit sharper). I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

This is a very nice shot but two people strolling by does not a crowd make. Also, you used selective desaturazition rather than minimal depth of field to isolate your subject. Some of the background has been blurred but not enough for me to consider it minimal depth of field. At any rate, the couple are focused just as sharply as the flutist and the idea was to single out a single subject from a crowd.

I like this but I'm not sure if it quite works for the challenge. The focus in the background is actually quite sharp and my interest keeps being drawn to the two girls. He seems to be isolated more by his actual distance from the crowd and the fact that he is sitting and everyone else is walking. If the challenge had been simply to create a candid shot in which you isolate a single subject this would fit the challenge but minimal depth of field was specified.

Where is the crowd? I think this might have been too much use of shallow depth of field. He seems to be isolated from his background but that background could be devoid of other people for all I can tell from this.

I'm not getting a sense of crowd from these three guys (one of which isn't even in the whole frame. The subject stands out to me more because she is naked and well-lit compared to her surroundings. I don't get a sense that minimal depth of field was used.

Nice. It's a candid, the umbrella adds some visual interest in terms of color and design (it also helps to isolate the subject) and this is definitely enough people to give me the sense of a crowd.
