Lovely lead in with the fences and I like the shapes. Would having somebody by the gate add a visual full stop and improve things? (I know - there's never someone around in a red coat when you need them!)

To the Beach

Strong, atmospheric image, and absolutely right to light up the leading post(s) to draw the eye to the fence and then into the detailed and moody background. It looks like the highlights are slightly blown on the main post so a more diffuse light source would have been ideal - but if this was natural lighting or already pushing the limits of the camera's dynamic range then it may not have been possible to compensate for this.
