Giles: Grandmaby kevrobertsonComment: ooooo you are going to suffer with a lot of people who will not understand the reference point of this title. I have to say I oved his cartoons and this just made me laugh out loud

Halloween (1978)by bassboneComment: Peter
Well many congrats on the high finish and replacing you 'fun' halloween shot on your profile with much darker one
I love the overexposed background behind michael myers, from your notes this had been the bit that had concerned you before the shoot but I have to say you nailed it 100%
It made me laugh that you scared the snot out of your wife, but I have to confess that if you had jumped out at me like that I would have been less than happy
Great homage to a film that scared the beejesus out of me when I first saw it

The Coming Stormby KarenNfldComment: Very nice B&W conversion with an amazing skyline (if you ever get time you really should do a tutorial on dodging and burning clouds for us newbies)
Such cool leading lines as well

Built in 1897by KarenNfldComment: Karen,
Picture postcard beautiful. It looks like the same tower from that great s-curve challenge entry.
Love the difference in colouring in the sky and the contrast of the ancient tower and the blazing city lights
As ever fantastic sharpness and dof
I did spot Waldo, but only because I was looking for him

day 4 My daughter Amyby fotofanComment: Diane,
Without a doubt my favourite of the shots that you have entered so far in the challenge
So many things to love about this shot, the composition, the softness of it on the face (especially as you have got such sharpness elsewhere), the bokeh, the BRILLIANT desat job on the boots and the gentle B&W conversion
I a really really struggling for anything sour to say on the shot...The best I can do is say, it might be nice with a border
Super image, I hope your daughter appreciates it |

Dream Playby SandyPComment: Woohoo a shot that gives all of us mortal photographers hope at DPC.
Its a great image and I love the leading line created by her veil together with the counterpointing of the backdrop and the girl
Its a top shot...
And yet it 'only' scores 5.7795.
Voters, who understands 'em?
Mind you I bet you would take that 5.7 because of the great fun that you had taking the shot rather than a 6+ for a studio one everytime |

Violet's Joyby SandyPComment: Not for the wonderful portrait
Not for the textures of the skin
Not for the blueness of the eyes
Not for the outstanding colouring elsewhere in the image
Not for the great way you have filled the frame
Not for the composition
Not for the pin point sharpness
Not for the DOF
All of these are fantastic
But it is for the story behind the shot that I will always admire and respect you and feel honoured to have you as a friend on DPC |

Quiet Reflections at Snoqualmie Passby smardazComment: I cannot believe that this did not give you your first six months ago!!!
An absolutely magnificent shot. The reflection is superb, the colours are wonderful. Great application of rule of thirds and the border works well
I hope this is hanging in your house

Trick or Treat DPCby bassboneComment: Top ten finish, front page score...That'll teach you for putting the effort in!!!
If I am honest I have to say I dont think this is one of your top four shots challenge wise, but you have 'paid the price' for getting across a really nice sentiment that captured the challenge very well
I have to say I am VERY impressed by your carving skills if you did the two on the left hand side as well!!!
