Father & Sonby RetroesqueComment: Yaay so many nice things going on here!!!!
Love the different perspective and the fact that it is obviously so unposed. The feet in the pocket and your husband's arm draped around you son are just wonderful and I absolutely LOVE the DoF
Because it is so unposed the lighting in the room has created a couple of odd contrast points on the rug (to the left of your husbands knee and just around the corner of the cushion) but this is a small price to pay for keeping it natural
Maybe a slightly lower crop to remove the TV? although then you would need to be careful not to lose the top of your husbands head and the upper panel of the unit th TV is sitting on my look odd. No doubt to could get them to pose for the shot and address these little points but in my opinion if you did that you would lose its inherant slice of life beauty
Oh BTW...Husband!!! How do I break the news to Ev...He was ready to emigrate after day 1 ;-)

Day 3 - Weddingby bdennyComment: Nice candid shot! Perhaps caught a bit betwixt and between in terms of tones, you could go for harsher tones to give the shot more pop, or perhaps even softer ones (perhaps with a bit of blur at the edges) to provide a more romantacised view
Feels like you have caprtured the warmth between the two subject, which IMO is not always easy to do in B&W

i'm not lion - it's not a drawing (Day 3)by colorcarnivalComment: Wow there is a definite picture of a picture feel about it
Not 100% sure whether I am a total fan of the flattening effect but there can be no doubt that it is a very striking image
I love the way you have filled the frame with this, works perfectly for this image and emphasises the natural symettry of the lions face |

Day 4 BW-wildflower.jpgby JerseyGenieComment: I love the 3D feel of the central flower and the sharpness of it
Might have prefered a slightly deeper dof to bring out the flower on the right more
Great composition with the flowers running along a rule of third line |

Twinkleby BenComment: Ha enter this in a B&W competition and you would get DNMC'd out of the water...Which is why I love this 30 day challenge because mos of the literalists dont take part. I love the touch of colour and the composition of the image
Maybe a touch noisy but a solid picture |

DAY 5. B&W. traffic ..by rozComment: Roz, I dont really see any disconnect between the images, I think they gel well...Funny enough I didnt think of Ali as driving because coming from England she would be in the passenger seat (which would be a worry as it would mean you were driving and taking shots)
I like the white empty space in the left hand corner...Heres a weird thought though it almost looks as if Ali is breathing this out from her lips...Just wondering whether by darkening the area around her filtrum and nose whether you could emphasise this and make it a feature
Very nice focus especially on the lips and bottom of nose, maybe could be a touch sharper on the bridge of the nose and glasses (there appears to be slight haloing round the nose)
Anyway feel free to ignore me, I took a picture of a sign for day 5!!!! |

Brigadoon Harborby noranekoComment: Well my thoughts is that it is a great fog shot, think the softer contrast is pefect and really enhances the weather element (If you look at the reflection of the pier it is wonderful how it diffuses from ultra crisp to rippled blur)
IMO the seagull on the right is a bit of a distration. Not really clear enough to be a feature, but pretty much on a rule of third line which means it draws the eye away from the main subject

Day 4 - Folds & Curvesby sherpetComment: Another lovely shot, there seems to be a touch of blur on some of the leading lines. Initially I was a touch disappointed when I saw this image, but having looked at it again I think that was because I was so smitten by you prvious days entry and of 'symettry' (Sorry to keep going on about symettry but I love that image so much) on looking at this a second and third time I realise that it has its own beauty |

Moon-1197by jackal9Comment: I am a massive fan of moon shots, and this is an excellent example. I love the cropping and the use of empty space to set the subject off. I'll be honest and say if I had taken this it would now be on my wall

Day Six: Appena una piantaby Art RoflmaoComment: Maybe 'just' a plant but certainly more than 'just' a photo. Love the focus and depth on the middle leaf and the light is perfection.
My guess is that this is part of what makes a great photographer, everyone has access to be able to take a shot of leaves, but not everyone could make it as visually appealing as this |
