Kidnapper v2 (PAW 5/52)by HarveyGComment: It's like one of those nature shows on TV. If the show is about the hawk, then you're cheering for the hawk. "Yeah! Hawk gets a meal!" If the show is about the Drongo, then you're sad for the chick and the mom.
Anyway, you know my opinion. It's an amazing image that won't score well without the backstory. |

04 - Sleeping Dog Islandby ursulaComment: Beautiful lines and colors as usual, of course. I expect no less from you. I'm not finding the bokeh bubble background to be all that convincing, though. It looks disconnected from the water in the foreground. |

shoe maker 2 (674x1024) (2)by thrumyiisComment: I think you're making progress. Learning to shoot still lifes is a process, not just some ability that people are born with. I think the white balance on last week's image looked more natural. The white wall this week looks a little too freshly painted. What I'd aim for on this one would be to get more light on the shoes and tools to try to focus the attention on them. On this image, the brightest, most contrasty thing is the white wall around the hanging shoe things, so that's where my eye goes. |

Emergingby ElaineComment: This is seriously good. I might bring the brightness of the brighter parts up a touch, but it's an interesting and engaging image. |

IMG_3931-772-Bryant-St,-detail-800by sfaliceComment: You now have me looking around my own neighborhood. It's amazing how many really odd buildings there are everywhere. In my neighborhood, it's mostly really unfortunate remodels, but you seem to be finding just as many that were originally designed that way. You could do an entire series just on the tops of buildings.
edit: deleted rant about Michael Graves selling himself out.... |

Anacapa Passageby GermaineComment: The right processing, and even Southern California can look like the middle of the North Atlantic... I like the texture of the water. |

Horseby bsluijkComment: Ahh...one of those images that finishes somewhere in the middle, but nobody gives you a clue what went wrong. I hate that when that happens. As far as the image itself, the lighting is good, you've given a very good view of the textures. I think why it finished somewhere in the middle on the challenge was the subject matter. Pictures sculpture just don't do that well. |
