The flowers are very bright, and take up more space in the scene than the temple, so I almost missed seeing the temple.

I like the misty feel of the image a lot. Two things that might make it work a little better...the monument looks like it's not standing up straight. It may actually not stand up straight in real life, but for someone who doesn't know that, the tilt is a bit disconcerting. The second thing...did you try cropping a bit off the left to get the monument a bit off center? I'm thinking that might help give the composition some life. It's pretty static with the monument plopped in the middle of the frame.

I like the pose and expression. The b&w conversion is good, except you lost a lot of detail in his white beard. Since the beard is such a major part of the image, it's really noticeable.

This might make a good print, but for the web it doesn't have enough contrast. You might try using levels to bring out more of the dark stuff.
