Struck, looking at some of your recent entries, how much negative (sticks) and black space you use, so often in a way I can never come close to. Yet in a 'negative space' themed challenge, you fill all the space with subject and light. Inspired :)

I didn't even see it until I started getting comments about no shadows or people falling off buildings. It wasn't set up to deceive in that sense, just to take advantage of more dramatic and dynamic lines and angles. The original was rotated, but that's just because I preferred the way it appeared, in terms of balance and line. It doesn't really work 'properly' in either orientation, so at that point the decision is mostly arbitrary.

It is a happy accident that many people were confounded by it.

Oh, the tangled webs we weave When we practice to deceive.

Since you asked for comments:

For a macro shot - it isn't particularly sharp - we are all spoiled by tack sharp macro images of bugs and spiders, so this is lacking.

It also isn't particularly close up - maybe 90% of the frame is background and the subject gets lost. What is there is bang in the center of the frame, which isn't usually the most dynamic composition.

The background & light or lighting isn't particularly interesting or appealing either.

Hopefully some of that helps explain the score.

very interesting with a lot of layers. The colouring really makes that work well too, with the comp colours spliting those layers

This is great - I've seen the idea quite a few times before but your lighting and the dress/drape really take it to the next level.
