I voted this up as a 6 in the challenge, quite liked the feel of it. The detail is great, and the red colours add a bit of punch to it. So why did it not score higher? If I had to guess, I'd say it's probably because you can't immediately see a train or railroad in the photo that some folk have looked at it and gone "Duh? does not compute" and voted it their mandatory 3/4 because they don't understand. I mean, for me, this is obviously a train. It's in a train challenge, and is full of dials and whizzamys. Clearly it's a train cab. Even if it's not, surely you'd give it the benefit of the doubt and vote as if it is? It's not really a large logical leap of faith is it? sigh.

Otherwise, who can say?

I can see how this shot would be very personal. You have it now for yourself to enjoy, In a way it could be for the best that it didn't go in to the challenge - how would you know what score you would expect for it? Sometimes it's best not to assign a number. :)

I reckon this was far too harshly treated. I didn't vote on the challenge because I had my entry in it, but I'd likely have settled around the 6 mark on this one. Yeah, the shadow at the front is a tad distracting, and it would have been nice to have the focus dead sharp at the branch of the lines, but come on, that's a great background / out of focus area that really complements the rest of the shot - the very essence of Bokeh.

In this challenge though, you obviously had to make all the voters go "ooo, shiny" in order to win big. Never mind that this has artistic watercolour quality to it.
