I voted this up as a 6 in the challenge, quite liked the feel of it. The detail is great, and the red colours add a bit of punch to it. So why did it not score higher? If I had to guess, I'd say it's probably because you can't immediately see a train or railroad in the photo that some folk have looked at it and gone "Duh? does not compute" and voted it their mandatory 3/4 because they don't understand. I mean, for me, this is obviously a train. It's in a train challenge, and is full of dials and whizzamys. Clearly it's a train cab. Even if it's not, surely you'd give it the benefit of the doubt and vote as if it is? It's not really a large logical leap of faith is it? sigh.
Otherwise, who can say? |

| Not a bad score... it's great how the reds stand out. The oldness is also quite evident! But, I definitely would not know that it is a train if it wasn't in the train challenge. |

| This is a lovely photo, nicely composed. I'm afraid I let it get lost in a sea of good pictures for this competition. I also let it get diluted by other, less successful but similar shots. So, a 6 and no comments. That's what we get for not cheating! ;) |

| I really like the composition, especially the way the red handles break up the image and lead the eye up through the frame. Clarity is good, light is great, I'm not sure why this didn't do better. |

Well, you certainly beat your expectation! :)
I'd call this a "good seeing it" shot. It's a nice arrangement of colors and contrasts, as you mentioned in your notes. |

| Not your average train shot. I like the rough feel as well as the stark contrast from the grey metal and the red valve handles. Nice job. |

| A good picture of some complicated machinery, but unless you know what you're looking at, it's hard to identify as having anything to do with trains or railroads. |
