this has to be one of the hardest photos for me to vote on. I have a terrible fear of snakes and yet I had to come back and comment on it. The focus and dof are fantastic. The scales show up beautifully and the color is incredibly good.

The dog itself is beautiful. Not sure how you are doing in the voting but I think you could have improved on the beauty of the dog by cropping in on one side. If you crop in from the left and remove the plants you make the dog appear to be gaurding the bird cage. If you were to crop in from the right you would make it appear the dog is watching something in the plants. As it is now, its just a pretty dog sitting there with a lot going on around it.
