Memento Moriby RKTComment: I think you found a wonderful subject for this challenge. However, the lighting needs to be a bit more dramatic (maybe a bit more from the side) and the image could use more contrast for my taste. This could be a result of your conversion method to B&W (desat only). If so, take a look in the tutorial section. There is a great tutorial on B&W conversion. |

3 metersby tateComment: Love the patterns and contrast in this image. If this was my image I would have cropped out the locked box at the top. It competes with the meters for my attention. 6 |

Lands End, Sunset by william88Comment: Back to comment: The effect of the long exposure time on the water produced a wonderful focal point for this image. Without it, this would just be another pretty landscape. You hit the challenge description right on the head and earned a 10 from me. Nice job! |

October was sooo yesterday...by JibComment: Hello from the Critique Club,
A straight on shot of a rotten pumpkin, what's not to love about that? For your chosen subject matter, I think you got about as much out of this image as there was to get. The focus and post processing are pretty good and the colors look realistic on my computer. This image falls into the not DPC friendly category, as the subject matter is not very appealing.
You need to do more than just meet the challenge at DPC to get a good score. The winners show creativity, have an interesting perspective, and tell a story. Keep entering challenges and you will find that you will improve with practice.
Feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions regarding this critique.

Robin Hood's Tree - The Major Oakby alpharichComment: Hello from the Critique Club,
This image definitely fits the challenge, as any tree that requires a "cane" to hold its limb up must be old. However, there are two major issues that hurt your score on this. First, the tree blends into the background way too much. It is possible that shooting at a different time of day (different lighting) could have helped provide more separation between the tree and the background. Second, I understand that you only had one shot left on your battery but this image is of a tree from a straight on perspective. Without a unique perspective, it shouts snapshot to the voters. Since nothing about this shot conveys Robin Hood besides your title, you need to find someway for this tree to tell a story on its own. It is entirely possible that there may not be a story to tell.
Feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions regarding this critique.
