Back to comment: Exceptional lighting and post processing. An image I would be proud to call my own. However, it really doesn't convey the concept of cold very strongly. Hopefully, this won't hurt your score very much. Good luck.

Back to comment: Without the title, this image does not convey cold to me very strongly. Besides that, the focus needs to be much sharper on the eyes. It is hard to connect with the person when the eyes are not sharply focused. I downloaded your image to add some sharpening and it appears as if the chin is where the sharpest focus occurs.

On a side note, it doesn't appear as if you sharpened your image after downsizing for the challenge. Downsized images almost always need to be sharpened as the last step in post processing. If you need help with this, please send me a PM and I'll try to give you a hand.

Foggy Trees

Back to comment: It is very difficult to make out if there is snow on the ground or what. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and consider it to be snow and very cold. However, the image itself is very static looking and has no real focal point of interest to draw in the viewer. The front tree on the left side of the image makes it difficult to look deeper into the woods, even on the right side of the image, as my eye keeps being dragged back to the tree on the left. Hope my comments help in some way.

Back to comment: A wonderful image but it really doesn't convey the concept of cold to me. It doesn't help that I know it is hot and humid in DC this time of year. Good luck.

Back to comment: There are several cold drinks in this challenge and by adding a stir stick to yours you provided a strong focal point for the image. However, there is a lot of haloing around the top part of the stick from the post processing and there are weird reflections in the glass. The image also suffers from the lighting a bit but I have no suggestions for how to improve it. I would suggest you look at some of the images in the Recipe (Beverage) challenge and PM some of the higher scoring ones and ask how they set up their lights. I've done this a few times and almost everyone was more than happy to share their knowledge.

Back to comment: You did a great job of humanizing the challenge topic. By far the most "emotional" entry in the challenge. 10 from me and good luck.

I'm not allowed to vote this challenge, as I'm only a registered member. Your image caught my eye as I was looking through the thumbnails. What a pleasant surprise when I opened the image. The leading lines send my eyes directly to the center of the image. I love how I'm left to my imagination to determine what everyone is trying to look at. Wonderful sighting on your part. Adding to my favorites.
