Yes, these are lines. But it's not a very engaging pose. It's more like "hold up your hands and I'll take a straight-up picture."

That said, as a snapshot, it's a great memento. I bet there's an interesting story behind those designs!

Yes, there are lines. But if the main point is the texture, it should be very sharp. As it is, it looks like a deliberately blurred background waiting for a subject.

A couple of things about this shot disturb me, which might be your intent:
- the veins are lines, but make me worry something is wrong
- the child looks like he's wearing makeup at a very young age

Edited to reflect post-challenge reflection in general and specific commentary from Artyste. I still feel it's a disturbing photo, but I should have worded it differently.
