by fatLouieComment: Geology - ahh. Plenty of desolation done by geologists worldwide - openstrip mines, tailings pits, mine run-off, red rivers here and there. Rust, mud and blood. I worked for several years in tin mines in the United Kingdom. |

Fortress Of Oldby SherwinJamesComment: Reminiscent also of prison camps the world over in various of the last century's wars. Creative license with the title might help. I think it is nicely processed the the tones work well. |

Desolationby AlainComment: This is an eye-catching image. The rust red of the iron oxides on the dessicated lake? bed stand out. The two twigs are rather an oddity. If you had a couple of fish skeletons (not too white) or some such more subtle prop, the photo would have worked a little better to captivate the viewer's attention. An ant walking across this land of canyons would have done the job too. |

w i t h e rby RKTComment: NIce interpretation and symbolism in your photo. The tones used and the dead, dry texture imply desolation. Understated but powerful. |

Forlornby edmengComment: The steely, silver sky is very nice on my monitor. The silver, bleached wood also stands out very well. This bare-bones image makes a statement and does imply desolation. Well done. |

Dust Bowlby SJCarterComment: INteresting without doubt. But the position of the protagonist within the frame is a bit odd. I expect you had very valid reasons for it being that way though - perhaps there was a Macdonalds restaurant just to the right ;-) |
