by Joey LawrenceComment: Nice technique. That's a super-dooper ring-light or a cheap fluorescent ring? |

The Table is Readyby SanjuroComment: I like the creative effort you put into making this photograph. And the light and point of view work well, for me. Light foreground and dark background are nice too. But the element which prevents me believing (suspending my disbelief) is that this is not a table ready for any recognizable meal. Egg, glasses, paper, water, cheese, bread and fruit suggest breakfast. Yet wine, spirits and uncooked vegetables do not. I prefer a little reality in a still life - or if not reality, the surreality. This is not quite either one. But, as said, I like the compositional shape and light. |

Fruits, Flowers, And Conesby libertyComment: That's an interesting assortment of elements. The dark background and light quality seem to work to enhance the composition. And you certainly put some thought and effort into this challenge. I think that one of the pitchers alone with few accessory items could have achieved a lot. Perhaps a little simplification, starting from one and adding as necessary to achieve a satisfying effect. It's an experiment worth continuing. Placement of objects is a high art - think of flower arranging, Japanese gardens etc. |

Fortdade at Dawn.jpgby fotofanComment: That's a wonderful view, nicely presented. Nothing like morning light for creating mood and beauty. |

...between dirty and clean streetsby redmoonComment: Creating this image - or coming across it at the right time of day - you made everything work in harmony: the 28-135mm (which I owned for a while) is very apt for this lighting and type of scene; the gentle bokeh and colours remind me of a classic story-telling sort of photography style; the "I wonder what is over the hill" perspective view is not that common but always seductive in its implicit question. All-in-all a subtle image I would have been torn about entering in such a challenge. I'm glad to see that so many people 'got it.' |
