From WordNet (r) 2.0 [wn]:
snow
n 1: precipitation falling from clouds in the form of ice
crystals [syn: {snowfall}]

Obviously, for those claiming it was not ice, you weren't trying to ski there.

Indoor-rinks aren't normally what comes to mind when I think of "thin ice". I also think a tigher, possibly vertical, crop might have done moreto draw focus to the central player--although it's also very distracting with the player right behind him. A closer crop would also make the face proportionally larger, which would be good since you did a good job capturing his focus.

Nice photo, but I'm not sure how many people will get the symbolism, unfortunately. I'm probably underestimating, though. Good-luck!

Electricity's negative effects: people up-north get all the ribbons.

I like the composition, but stepping down a bit more to put more of the food in focus might have resulted in a better picutre, in my opinion.

By far my favourite photo this contest, even if only because I can relate.

There are many other pictures where I fully agree with the "too small" comments, but I don't think this one was particularly bad with respect to that (although I agree that it could stand to be a bit larger). Of course, I'm viewing on a smaller screen than most.

As for the red(/orange) cast, play around with your white balance settings on the camera, alternatively you can try messing with color balance in post processing but that probably won't turn out as well unless it's part of the raw conversion process.
