Challenge: Night Shot III (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: Athol-oaklands offramp, Johannesburg
Date: May 5, 2006
Galleries: Urban
Date Uploaded: May 7, 2006

Taken on the Athol-Oaklands offramp for any S.A. people wondering, after dinner on friday night just went and did my first night shoot...hope you guys like it. Dont know how the red was so prominent as the only editing was autocolour and autolevels and i think autocontrast..

After playing around with crops I decided just to let the picture be as it was as minimal editing could be best.

I had a brilliant image for holy places from the christian area of Jerusalem but it didnt fit in with the dates so this one better do well!!! :P

There are many other pictures where I fully agree with the "too small" comments, but I don't think this one was particularly bad with respect to that (although I agree that it could stand to be a bit larger). Of course, I'm viewing on a smaller screen than most.

As for the red(/orange) cast, play around with your white balance settings on the camera, alternatively you can try messing with color balance in post processing but that probably won't turn out as well unless it's part of the raw conversion process.

Too small, too noisy, too dull...not good.

This one had potential but there's something that detracts a bit...and I can't quite put my finger on it. Flat maybe?

Overexposed HORRIBLY

I can't see this doing very well and I can't see people giving constructive comments so here's mine:

- Make the photo bigger (I'm sure you'll get loads of these). It makes it easier for people to comment on other aspects of the shot.
- The is no object of any interest here to be honest, the lights themselves would make a good addition but are not interesting enough to be a subject on their own
- This doesn't have to instant impact of many other photos.

Keep shooting though.

I like the angle, but everything seems washed out and the orange cast is a bit distracting.

image could stand to be larger
