Into the Distanceby lykofosComment: Thanks for all the comments. I'm glad that some people noticed the layers and repeating patterns. :) I had to mess with the autofocus brackets and change the aperature to 8.0 after trying several other settings to finally get the 'skyscraper' focused well because it kept turning out softer than I wanted it. |

Golden Gate Bridge by byetkoComment: Excellent photo. I love how the bridge fades into the fog. The B&W was a surefire choice, as I feel it accents the mysterious feel that the fog already creates. |

Urban Art Under Bridgeby FeesonicComment: That is really interesting how that metal is shaped into a flower. However, this image would be more appropriate for a different challenge. There is no indication in the photo that it has anything to do with a bridge (other than the title), and thus does not meet the challenge topic in my opinion. |

Odd Man Outby lykofosComment: Thanx for the comments folks. Some of you didn't understand despair or the background, so here's what I was trying to go for while taking the photo. I guess I paid too much attention in English class, because I'm a fan of symbolism and underlaying meaning.
I was trying to portray the despair of loneliness. The first idea that came to mind was the cliche phrase "Odd Man Out." So, I had my subject knell with a somber look facing towards the camera. The people in the background were placed there intentionally. They are facing away from the camera and are in a circle facing each other to create the sense of a clique that the subject does not belong to. The overexposure is meant to further the notion of alienation by putting them and the background in extreme lightness, while the main subject remains in the darkened shadow of the pillar.
Not sure if the photo had the effect I intended. From the comments it looks about 50/50. Maybe I was trying to put too much ulterior meaning into the photo. |

Not A Happy Pictureby DrJOnesComment: Wow, this is a very disturbing photo. Technically, lighting and composition look good. I can't believe that your subject willingly leaned her head against the toilet, and put her hair in it (that's really disgusting)! |

Feeling Daring?by alanfreedComment: Nice photo. That Sky "Dive"r building looks like a shack though, I'd be afraid to go skydiving with them. |

Traumaby PHOTOCHlXComment: This would have been a great photo had it been larger, it seems much to small. I also think that zooming in some to cut out the tree on the left and bring the signs in closer to the viewer would have worked well. The helicopter in the background was a nice touch, it really adds to the atmosphere. |

Will you be next?by Delta_6Comment: Lol, dangerous road. Wow, that's pretty bad that there's that many fatalities on the road that they've decided to dedicate a sign to it. |

Ironicby teachme53Comment: Haha, very ironic indeed, clever manipulation of the challenge topic. Excellent use of location and composition. It's also very refreshing after looking through the myriad of 'regular' road signs. |

Village Next Leftby kevinswopeComment: Ummm....nice photo, but where's the sign? I'm sure you've already got a ton of comments asking that, but it's a very broad interpretation of the challenge. Perhaps you could have made a sign saying "Village next Left" and stuck it somewhere near the road, would've probably worked much better for this challenge topic. |
