Circle Of Life

Ah, I see what you were capturing to show us! Truly there are only two main subjects we need to be aware of in this shot. The hunched over elderly woman pushing the shopping cart and the woman on the opposite crosswalk pushing the baby stroller - those are the circle or cycle of life that you are showing us. I think this image would have a stronger impact if you crop it to show just those two (three as that there is a baby present) in the 'crosswalks' of life. The man, the car, and the young woman on the right tend to distract attention away from your main subjects/message. I also think that for this shot full color is distracting and that B&W would draw the eye's attention more readily to the people in the shot. I do like how you captured the moment showing the elderly woman crossing the road (symbol of life's path) in the forefront with youth literally and figuratively behind her (the woman pushing the stroller). Also interesting is the juxtaposition of actions here - at each life stage, young and old, they are pushing something.

I think that this would fit far better as a close-up abstract piece that is an exploration of detail and textures of the common everyday object of a city street. It is an object that one rarely gives a second glance as one walks on, drives by, or cycles past...but it is the groundwork we travel on. There is some wonderful detail here but I think B&W would be a better choice to show the play of light and shadow and the texture detail of the road.

Interesting take that shows a gathering of people looking at the art on the wall. I like how you composed the shot with the large picture of a woman's face dominating the left portion and then the next hanging portraits extend off to the background as a diagonal leading line. There is a woman on her phone looking over her shoulder to study the portrait of the woman on the wall. She is giving the photograph 'a look' as strangely enough the portrait picture stares back at her. I find it equally interesting that all the subjects within your photograph are all woman from what I can see. Woman taking pictures and looking at the portraits of the woman on the wall. Perhaps it is a gallery study and exploration of what is beauty/fame and by what standards does society judges beauty/fame. Looking at the expression of the woman in the forefront of the gallery I get the sense that she is not at all impressed by the picture or that she is apathetic to it.

This slice of life shows a typical workday down in the subway as a man dressed in a business suit looks on at the train pulling away. His stance and expression tell the story of him waiting - as per the title, he waits for the next one. He has missed this one and is slightly annoyed that he will have to wait for the next one to come by.

Just an everyday street scene as we walk along tending to our business until one spots the one thing that instantly makes one uncomfortable. The man in the white shirt leans/points at the column and looks over his shoulder back at us with a menacing stare. It makes one feel like they stumbled into an area they are not welcome - we have walked into his personal space; we are the intruders and he does not want us here. The question to the viewer is what course of action should one take: give a friendly greeting while walking by or give this man a wide berth avoiding any further contact. A good capture that invokes thought and emotional response in your viewers.

Doing homework on a desk at night out on the city sidewalk is an unusual sight, but given the sign nearby I am guessing this is a tutoring business mayhap? It is an interesting moment to capture showing this young girl doing homework with an older woman sitting by her side to assist with any questions. A desk lamp sits nearby to provide the needed light to illuminate the books and I love how the little dog sitting under the table is keeping watch out for any people who would pass by disturbing the concentration of the student studying. Great capture and love the B&W processing with wonderful tonal range that really sets off all the details in this shot.

Great leading lines on this street that lead to the 'horizon' of this cityscape. The B&W dynamic tones are excellent and call attention to all the details of this busy city scene without full color to distract. The brick paved road is the pathway that pedestrians, cars and bicyclists use each and every day. Great capture of a moment of every day city life with the main subject of man on the bike bringing home groceries/merchandise from his day of shopping.

One can be alone in the crowd was my first thought when I saw this shot. Interesting how people are hardly phased by her presence in this busy shopping center even though she is standing atop a step ladder. It is a moment that makes me wonder why she is taking a selfie or filming; given that she carried a ladder with her it might be an assignment. While the people around her are not stopping I stop to wonder why she is there and what her story is.

What a fantastic capture of this street performer blowing bubbles! Love how the children are enjoying the cloud of bubbles he is creating. And how awesome is it that you captured the boy running towards the bubbles that his head is framed within one of the large bubbles! It makes me notice his joyous expression all the more. The bubbles are the reason for his smile.

Great eye to spot this moment in time showing contrasts in 'connectivity'. The two on the ends are 'plugged' in to their electronic devices - socially they are disconnected from the world around them. While in the middle are two women who are speaking with one another face to face. Also interesting how the two on the end that are on their smart devices are devoid of expression while the two chatting women are very expressive: one asking has an inquisitive look and the other is smiling. Your B&W tones and details of this shot are wonderful!
