| 12/30/2002 05:37:20 AM | 4by ndsComment: As I can read in the comments some of you didn't see the connection with "4". Was it really so hard to realise it? I did hope, that the viewer is able to see the number 4 in her crossed legs. I tried to accentuate it by using only back light and a darker model in the foreground. But maybe it was not clearly enough.
Nevertheless thanks a lot for all your comments, esp. to those voters, who took the time for looking a little bit longer on my shot to get the connection with the challenge.
Happy new year and keep on shooting! |
| 12/23/2002 09:54:40 AM | Would You Go Diving With Me?by ndsComment: I know, that this shot is far away from perfection. But the overexposed and bright feeling is deliberated. Personally I like such high key shots very much and I always wanted to try this technique. Now I think as most of you, that this one is a little too bright and you are right when you think, that there is much space for improvement. Most I dislike, that the original is out of focus. I used a shutterspeed of 1/200, but I should have used a tripod too. So I was forced to sharpen too much in photoshop. The negative effects you can see in her hair. Thanx a lot for your comments, any further help and tips for getting better high key shots are welcome! |

The "fixed" vertical lines of the inquiry kiosk are working great together with the well selected motion blur level of the train. But there's room for improvement too. IMHO a greater DOF wold make this shot better and clearer. I'd like to see the lamps and the paving tiles in a sharper focus. Did you used a tripod? The silhouette of a person, lazily leaned against the kiosk or waitig for the train on the track, would add the WOW. Nevertheless good luck for the challenge! IMHO the motion blur level is perfect and you did the right decision with showing no additional car, bike or cockpit. I really like, how my eyes are guided into the depth of your shot by the white line. Your title is perfect too, I feel the adrenaline only by looking on your photo! 10 - nds |

IMHO a little more DOF would be suitable and I would like to see the light-reflection in the center of both eyes. Doing so makes the shot a bit more lifely. Nevertheless congrats on a great shot! |
