This shot is the perfect example of why not to use an on-camera flash unit with automatic settings. You get a subject with the exposure falling off the edges (head and shoulders), no background, etc. The centered composition would also work better if the photo was taken straight on, instead of from the left side. |

Very nice idea. A fill flash for the hand would have been nice to see used in this photo. As for the complexities of exposure on this type of shot, you did really well. |

There are way too many hot spots in the photograph. The crop is exceptionally tight. Excluding the challenges presented by shooting a moving/live subject, this photo should be much sharper than it is. Including more of the reflection in the foreground would have helped. And if the background had the "someone" in it, outside the DOF, this shot would have been improved. |
