Great style! Definitely a powerful image...I can see it on a huge advertisement for teen clothes.

The colors look fake and over-processed in the blue/purple tones. Also, it's fighting with the orange glow falling onto the rocky cliffs...my mind is confused whether it's sunrise, sunset, dusk or dawn. Not a bad photo though by any stretch.

I agree about the DOF...it's actually too shallow. Hard to tell what's going on in the background. Had you not posted in a thread, I wouldn't have known. Even if you stood to the right a bit more, there may be more detail in the faces where the hand is blocking any kissing action as it is.

I'm also not crazy about the selective color. That pulls your eye to the foreground even more, which is what you don't want since the focus is supposed to be on the "amour". Also, how does the fact that someone has a blue shirt add to the image? I didn't vote in this challenge, but thought I'd add an IMO per your thread request. Very creative idea!

light to dark background is distracting...more so are the wrinkles in the backdrop...pose looks uncomfortable...perhaps some color cast as well...lighting is rather soft for fashion...I figure a lot of your voters are looking for bold/sharp/vibrant images (i.e. not necessarily a bad pic, just not what viewers are likely looking for). moving away from background, more natural pose, and a spunkier expression to match a spunkier outfit would help

He is very sexy and the pose is great. Wish there was more light to show off his cute face even more and another light near his hands to see detail in the sweater...I'm assuming the sweater is supposed to be the "object" of fashion, but if this were a magazine ad/etc., I would have no idea what the clothes actually looked like. Nice work- nice guy!

Too vivid and blown out...the effect just doesn't work with this image. The eyes are very soft, and not a real "meaningful" expression on the child's face...it looks like she just stopped interacting in her "world" long enough to look up at someone behind the camera. I have a feeling a lot of voters are looking for your stereotypical "model", so that may hurt you. Kudos for going a different route. This also could have been cuter if it were a full body with lots of makeup bottles/brushes/etc. scattered about, or if she was peaking through "mother's" jewelry box, etc. That way the viewer can know a little more about what's really going on since the model's face isn't necessarily telling a story. The shadows on the left and bottom right are distracting as well. I'd love to see the unedited version!

I guess I took your interpretation differently, reminded of "when the cock crows" from Biblical text. I think the grain is part of what makes this so wonderful. Spoon crop and shadow don't bother me either...I love it!

No "oomph"...visually "busy". The expression isn't fresh...perhaps she'd been helping out for awhile? Even the pose seems stagnent. As a children's photographer, the best thing I found is to have them "jump" into position and take the photo fast. Granted...this is can be extremely difficult when working for youngsters. You kind of have to work around THEM and end up with lots of outtakes. Also, for such a geometrical shape for her body to be in, her hair over one shoulder really throws off the symmetry. Too much going on in terms of color, pattern/text, shape, sucker in hand, cat, unbalanced hair. Pick one concept and stick with it. Great idea...just needs fine tuned. -5-

Don't ask me why...this is not really my style. For me, this doesn't shout fashion photography. There is a bit of sensor dust along the top, the coat is blown out at the collar. Wrinkles at the bottom fo the coat. Bright line opening of light is a bit distracting at the bottom of the horizon...BUT this is my favorite photo here. This is why I love DPC. Not a traditional "fashion" image...not what you see everytime you open a magazine. Not a duplicated image. This is something you created. You're making your own definitions. The emotional power totally overplays the technical details (which could be fixed in advanced editing anyhow). I'd love to know what you used for lighting since it appears you're out in the middle of nowhere. I love it! 10 from me. (sorry for the novel)

Wish the crop wasn't so tight. Makes it seem like she's crammed in...but the clothes feel soft...perhaps more appropriate for an open feel with lots of space. Beautiful lighting and color.
