Habitatby PaulComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
A very well composed shot in my mind, using the rule of thirds as to placement of the ant. The color of the lower is nice and vibrant, while still remaining natural looking (not over saturated).
The detail with this macro is what stands out the most. You really captured the ant with very good clarity. Had this been submitted into a Macro challenge or Insect challenge I feel you would have placed higher. Being that the image is entered into a flower challenge, I feel it needed more attention on the flower itself to score higher. Very nice work though, keep on shooting! |

Rising of the Phoenixby CuttoothComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
The first thing that strikes me with this image is the vibrant colors. Rich and inviting without feeling overdone. The lighting seem to be pretty direct from overhead, robbing us of some of the minute details. Had the sun been low on the horizon you may have captured more interesting shadows and perhaps more details. Aside from that, I like the image. I like the softness of this flower. I can almost feel the silkiness of the petals.
As for being disappointed in where this image placed, you shouldn't be. You received a respectable score from the voters. There was some very tough competition. |

Yes it is. The Detroit Zoo has a couple of these. I shot this while visiting my daughter last year. |

"You Are Not Alone"by ty-wilkinsonComment: Very nice capture of the rays, and the composition works for the most part. This is expert editing though, so I feel you could have done something about the distraction in the lower left corner. (7) |

Good photography, but I really don't think I would want this on the front page of DPC for a whole week. LOL |
