Imagining the Summitby neophyteComment: By looking at your portfolio, I definitely see that you know how to take a photo. I don't agree with some of these comments, that you just "stuck" a photo in here and gave it a name. That's not fair to you. I see where you were coming from. Don't let your low score get you down. Mine didn't do too hot either. :)
I love the fact that you caught him reaching for his next grasp. I agree with stdavidson, that setting a black point and then adjusting levels would have made a difference. Unfortunately, I think it was the photos content that got you the low score.

Darkness Awakensby jtstreetComment: I really liked this, inspite (or because) of the filter. Could be because I'm a Star Wars fan. :) Sorry it didn't do better, but for the record, I gave you a six. |

Consumingby Joey LawrenceComment: Awesome shot! I sense the pain and anguish. The red adds to the feeling, and blends well into the darkness. Great photo, and great job! |

Noirby nico_blueComment: This was my highest rated photo. Congrats on the top 20. If you care, what I love about it:
- The eyes in shadow, conveying sorrow
- The hands gripped in front of the face, as if afraid
- The deep shadows and highlights contrasting against each other - can't have the darkness without the light!
It just me stare at it, which is a good thing in MY book! :)

Another Dark & Lonely Storm for Mr. Sharkyby mihaibadicComment: First I went "Ewe!" Then I went, "Huh?" Then I went, "Oh." It definitely made me look ... Going for different isn't always a bad thing, but this was just weird. :)
PS ... Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's just water, right? Turning it to greyscale makes it look gooey, but the drips down the side of the pot tells me it's just water. ??? :) |

Headed Homeby GeneralEComment: I gave this a low score (higher than your average, tho), mainly because I didn't get it. I thought it was a child "headed home". I did get the feeling of poverty, which I connected to the darkness theme. I can imagine it's hard to get a photo of a homeless person. Alone, it's a good photo, but coupled with the other dark photos of this challenge, it didn't really stand out much. However, I think it deserved better than a 3.8. That's just silly! :) |
