"progress is a comfortable disease"by zeuszenComment: Many places of southern Europe, spared from wartime destruction and now discarded by growth economy, share the vanishing charms this image evokes.
Where time and negligence slowly promote modest acts of affordable and undervalued elegance.
On the state of world economy to a North American friend of mine (I rarely resist the boorish act of self quotation): “Growth is a lethal anti-depressant”

Asynchronous Transmutationsby jjbeguinComment: Originally posted by mpeters: This is the most unique title I have seen in 8 months on DPC. 6 but I'll give a 10 if you can PM me with a concise explanation in less than 3 sentences. :) I think I get it but I'll check out the dictionary to be sure. |
-Transmutation- Both elements are going from one state to the other (bone to dust and snow to water)
-Asynchronous- The two elements in this case transmute at very different speed and rhythm.
When a picture does not really please me, I try to, at least, have fun with the title.

Everydayby melismaticaComment: Those who have lived or traveled in countries where this item is absent or not always available know that the comfort it can provide punctually, places it way before sofas, teddy bears, booze, pets and other metaphysical contraptions depicted in this excruciatingly boring inventory of household equipment, photographer progeny and domesticated mammals we were given to review this week.
This bluntly composed image has a nice contemporary feel to it and shows with a real economy of means and no graphic emphasis several basic comfort classics of modern days living.
By far the best image in this challenge (though my judgment is notoriously untrustworthy).
If you plan to ribbon though, find alternative ways of being smart.

Overextended Intercourseby JPRComment: Wouldn’t it be a disturbing discovery to actually find out that a large number of those who have rated this fine picture could actually be claiming some kind of acculturation, inclination or genuine artistic interest somehow linked to photography (other than the irresistible charms of micromechanics and the magic of applied optical physics, that is)? Market Manby e301Comment: Are these women mourners or are they just looking at something on the street floor? Quality shot. |

Dressed for the Occaision? by SkipComment: Great scene, I wondered when I saw it why you had'nt converted it in B&W. Discarding these flesh tones and slightly darkening the back crowd would have realy dramatized this already perfectly well delivered image. congratulations |

My appologies to my accidental model for this unexpected public overexposure. |
