HUH ?by Jeff OComment: I like this shot, but the oversaturated yellow of the owl's eyes is a little distracting. IMHO, it makes the overall appearance of the bird somehow unnatural. The rest of the shot is great - nice muted color tones (and I'm sure the eyes were probably intentional), I just wish the eyes had been toned down a bit. Still, a great shot. (7)

Baby Ducklingby artvetComment: Excellent reflection. The colors a little oversaturated in gold for my particular taste (and the shot looks a little overprocessed - it could just be me), but overall a really nice shot. (6) |

Maestroby bryanbrazilComment: Great B/W piece! The detail and textures are superb. I think the lighting is a little harsh in spots, but it's difficult to take many points away from this one. Really beautiful job. (9) |

Loversby darixComment: Adorable shot. Great colors too. I'd like to see a little more detail (there are a number of spots on the birds that are a little blurry (IMHO), but excellent composition! (7) |

Balanceby cabaComment: This is certainly a once-in-a-lifetime shot. How cool! A few distractions for me are the OOF portions of the gull and the loss of detail due to glare, but overall a great job. The reflection and crop are superb. Very well balanced & composed. I just wish it was a little crisper and a little less glare. Still, overall a real keeper! (8) |

American Goldfinchby Links 2 3 4Comment: Simply stunning clarity and I love the muted tones of this image. VERY natural in appearance - no signs (to me) of overprocessing. You really did a nice job juggling the necessary detail of the subject and softness of the background. I also like the fact that this is something I could see in my backyard on any given day. Great work - I'm bumping this up from my initial score of 7 to 9. |

Don't Make Me Fly Over Thereby Keith ManiacComment: Your caption is great! It really brings into focus the concentrated and frustrated expression on the sparrow's face (I assume it's a sparrow of some sort). It really looks like it's gonna come after me if I utter one word of disagreement. Very cute & enjoyable shot! (7) I've come back to this one, because the expression & caption just kill me... I'm bumping it up to an 8. Nice job! |

Emuby RissaComment: I almost entered a shot of an emu very similar to this! Yours is MUCH better than mine however!. You've got great detail and colors here, but the shot is a little dark for my tastes. Still, my highest score for Big Bird! :-) (8) |

Proud Maryby lentilComment: I think this could have been a real strong entry, but it's way too dark (IMHO). There's really nice detail in the feathers, but the contrast and/or shadows really detract from the image. Also, it would have been nice to see more of the parakeet's eye. You've got some great color going on, and like I said the detail is good too, but it's overall too dark (IMHO). Sorry (4). |

camera shyby buzzmomComment: This does meet the challenge, and for that I give you marks. But the graininess/blurriness of the photo and the oversaturated pink tones are real distractions to me (IMHO). I'm sure that this little guy/girl is the apple of your eye and is cute as a button, but I just don't think it came across in this particular shot. can almost see how you may have been going for a close-up cute look/expression on the bird, but there's just not enough detail to make it work for me. And again, I think if it were not so grainy (looks overprocessed) and in focus, it would have scored MUCH better. Cool idea, I just think that this particular shot may not have done what you hoped. Sorry (3). |
