Beatiful photo! The abstract way you've used the lines of the hills and the light shining on the water is wonderful! There's a real sense of calmness. There are 3 rounded shapes in the dark area below the light line. I can't figure out what they are and find them a little distracting. Even so, I think this shot deserves a 9.

A nice take on this challenge. The shape of the window feels like we're in a medieval castle or cloister. The inclusion of the light shining on the ground adds interest to the photo and also shows us the texture of the floor. I'm not sure the tippiness of the lines (floor and right wall) work so well, but still a good shot.

Night Falls

I feel like I've been to this beach! Gorgeous colors and reflections. The stick or whatever it is to the left doesn't carry the power of the large boulders so it makes me feel distracted. Even so, this photo is superb and I think it deserves a 10 (the only one I'm giving in this challenge). Maybe I'll see this place for real one day.

Your use of color in this picture is stunning, linking the various shapes into a thematic cohesive whole. I especially like the way you've brought out the detail in a very interesting statue. A dark feeling indeed!

The Oracle

I love the way you used the lamp as a prop, making it into an object to see into the future with. The light it casts on the girl's face and legs really creates a very mystical feeling. Also, the way the girl's hands are silhouetted makes the oracle's hands look bigger than the rest of her and creates a sense of power around her. Great use of light and shadow! Even the way the girl's eyes aren't looking down at the light, not looking at the camera, but looking, as if seeing something no one else is seeing, is excellent!

A very beautifully shot photograph! I love the way the light and shadows fall on the clock face. Also, the choice of such a classic timepiece is excellent - serves to highlight your theme of the speed of time; I guess it's actually the time of light, but light travels at a very quick speed, so I'm not so far off, right? I'm really curious how you created the lighting effects, especially the zooming effect in the background. The border makes it feel a bit like a postcard. Very, very nicely done!

This is a very sensual photograph, with the details in the central part of the flower being so textured and the petals being so soft. The lines flow in such a beautiful way and the composition, placing the stamen where you did, is perfect. The light is so soft and contrasts in such a nice, gentle way with the shadows. I also love the matching green you chose for the border. Amazing!

This is my top pick of a challenge that has many amazing photographs. The lighting is such a beautiful part of the composition in your entry. The photo has such a soft feel, creating a very classic and romantic atmosphere. The repetition of thepillars and the rounded shafts of light, the shadows contrasted with the light, the way your eye follows the line down - all these things make for a very strong photo. Great job 10!

long after voting this image has stayed in my mind - the power of the lines really bring your eye to the apple so wonderfully. Excellent composition. I do wish that the apple itself was a bit darker to contrast more strongly with the grey of the bench (?). 9
