Off to workby MulderComment: I think I could have given one more point, had this been ironically titled 'Rush Hour." |

Dream Freezeby MackFlixComment: I like the coldness, the emptiness. I like the fact that it seems so lifeless but that the walkway is evidence of habitation. I guess there is a very subtle 'surreality' in its existence here. And to give you the benefit of the doubt, Dali's landscapes shared a similar starkness, though they were dotted with melting clocks. In all, I think it falls just short of meeting the challenge (which puts it far ahead of more than half the entries.) |

Creation Of Kenby naomikComment: This is sooo subversive, sooo funny, sooo over-the-top. But it is sooo corny, sooo badly lit and wierdly composed. Kudos for daring to enter it. It is with considerable regret that I cannot give it more than a 3. |

Young Darwin’s apocryphal visionby jjbeguinComment: Kind of mirror's the ascent of this photo once I made the connection. It started at 3 and I think it will finish at 6 or 7 on my scorecard. What I don't like is that it looks like a photo of a stage set. And it doesn't have a strong link to the subconscious, IMO.
I like that the ladder appears to be underwater powerfully evocing the 'Ascent of Man' . It's very clever, and cleverly photographed. |

Anticipationby SnapperLComment: ton ro.
Clever idea and an interesting photo. It's an allusion to dreaming; but not very dreamlike and not very evocative of the cognitive confusion of the subconscious. |

untitledby jmooreComment: It's a really striking image; beautiful and disturbing. It does not evoke the surrealist painters that I studied for the challenge, but it does seem to cut directly to the subconscious in a similar way. |

Not seeing the big picture by octane202Comment: Strong, dreamlike imagery, odd relationships defying logic. It's a very static image, but very beautiful and evocative. Very nice job. If this does not get a ribbon, I'll be very disappointed. |

Frustrationby GrziComment: I really like this photo, but I don't get the connection with the challenge. |

Tax Season: An Accountant's Nightmareby jessfrolioComment: I like the idea of the photo. And several of its points of execution are great; the backwards numbers, the recoil in fear, the 'climbing the wall' gesture. IMO, the photo seems burdened by a number of executional flaws. High key lighting strikes me as the last kind of lighting to use for this kind of a photo, but at least all the other things in the photo are light and pastel. Except for the belt and shoes. Besides their dark color, the waffle-souled shoes seem too incongruous.
While we understand that this is a dreamlike experience from the context, the visual language of the photo belies it. It doesn't feel dreamlike.
Solid effort. Keep taking photos. |
