...the rocket's red glare...by DrAchooComment: I have to say I pick this as being your entry (is that your daughter on the right). I'm surprised that this didn't ribbon. As I mentioned, this was my favourite photo in the challenge... |

Unscheduled Surveillanceby raishComment: It's a very interesting shadow cast. The colour and noise fit the surveillance theme setup by the title nicely... would have liked to see more detail, but I imagine that the camera was probably at its limits taking this as is. |

From Withinby LadyKComment: This is another flower shot that I perhaps was too quick to judge too harshly during voting... but I've changed... please see my comment on skewsme's verde-go photo.
I perhaps might have liked the DOF to have included the petals... too much of it is too soft for my liking, and the centred composition... meh...
Anyway... rest assured, the next time you submit a flower photo, and I vote on it... I'll be fairer and not discriminate against it b/c of my hatred for flower. |

verde-goby skewsmeComment: I hate flowers... but at least your flower had a bug in it. ;)
Seriously, this is quite a nice photo, and the shallow DOF has been used brilliantly to draw all the attention to the bug. I quite like this... and think it was my highest rated flower photo in challenge. :)
Again, I digress. Colour's good, perhaps an iota falt, composition is spot on. Well done... probably deserved to do better with the voters, but I blame those voters that see flowers and turn of w/o giving them enough of a chance... and I have to admit I'm one of those... or was... I've developed an appreciation of them following Flowers II and will endeavour to give them more time in the future. I am a reformed flower hater... well, maybe not... I still hate them, but will not be so quick to judge them in future. |

a tribute to bucketby posthumousComment: This is a view my wife has become very familiar with over the years, and was up until recently (thank science for some wonderful anti-nausea drugs) again experiencing several time a day... though he bucket lacked the feathers.
Nice image. I love the feathers and the processing. Initially, I wasn't sure about the composition, though the more I look at it, the better the non-centred bucket is. I perhaps may have not cropped so close to the handle on the left, and may have cropped out the bar at the bottom of the image... and perhaps straighten the horizontal bars... |

Above the Birdsby vawendyComment: Great composition... I love that you've captured the full wingspan and cropped it so that they go from corner to corner. It's only a shame that it's such an ugly bird and it gets lost somewhat in the dirty water below... not things you have any control over, I know... but perhaps explain why an otherwise great shot didn't do better with the voters perhaps. |

Lorikeetby rodfulkComment: Where does one find a lorikeet in Northeast Arkansas,USA... ahh... I see from the location info, it was at a zoo in Ohio... anyway...
Great colour and clarity in this image... and DOF is brilliant. Where the shot suffers is in the composition and crop. That blade of grass that goes from the bottom right to right in front of the birds head... a killer. Also, cropping the birds tail... ouch! Final negative is the blurry colourful thing in the background... lose these three things, and you would have been laughing. Though... still think you may have had a lot of pedants making you down for not being above the subject enough... perhaps. |

Play Timeby BAMartinComment: Excellent composition and colour in this image and I love the details in the floor. Image might be a tad too busy, in that, there's no real path for the viewers eye to follow... I find myself just jumping around the image, looking at the colour, then the people, then the cranes on the string, back to the people, etc etc... so perhaps its too balanced? I don't know... :( |
