Religious, hope, Happiness, Faith, Dedication, Remorse. This image gives me more of these things than "pain". Perhaps with a painful expression on the face of the person holding it would have been more powerful.

I think with a different expression on her face this would have felt a little more painful. Aside from the running makeup and teardrop on her face, I'm not feelign the pain. I'm not saying that it wouldnt be possible to do....I would ahve taken about 100 shots of her and had her think of sad things. Maybe even tell a sad story and then snap away as she talks. I may be more emotional if she wasn't so square with the camera. The lighting is nice. She just looks a little posed, as if it was like "Okay let me fix this makeup, ok now hold that pose....rdy???" The expression will be the cause of at least a whole point for you in this challenge I bet.

Hilarious shot! It doens't scream pain at me...but it is pretty funny. My emotional reaction when I first glance at this is funny, then a little sad for the dog for having to wear one of those! Pain doesn't necessarily strike me from this image. Fun shot though regardless.

No words....This is not tastefull in the least. I expect challenges to be taken with not only a creative approach (as you did) but a tasteful one as well.

Here is what this is equivalent to.....If the challenge was "Nudes" and you entered a porn set shot of some girl getting doubled teamed by two guys. Its just not right in this challenge. I realize you used a white background and probably put some time into it, but you have to realize whats in good taste and whats not.

A little uninspired...by this I mean....whats the meaning? Sometimes on a confusing image the title can help the viewer make sense of it...but you didn't even give us that Still a pleasant image thats composed, exposed and creatively shot. I like how the arms are interwoven witht he wire and not just on one side of it. Adds a nice 3D feel.

Creative title with your picture. The combination of both is good (your specific title and image). The mother or grave by itself would not be a very strong image, but this works. Nice job.

Pretty gruesome image...I almost find it too "in your face". I'm interested to see how it scores...I'm sure some will be offended. I like the shot though. Good choice on the B&W

I love the idea....you thought outside the box and its shown by your title....However....This picture has a "snapshot" feel. I bet people are hiting on it pretty hard...so lemme be one of the few people that tries to explain whats going on in my head instead of just voting.

Copositionally, not terrible. The two mirrors add a nice semetric feel to your photo. With a tighter crop job (eliminating the man on the right and the light blue strip on the far left) this would have been a little more visually solid. I know it was basic editing, so you couldnt get rid of the blue phone sign. I find that distracting too. The bucket could probably go too!

Lighting and feel- I love it. It feels like happy hour when I view this image. Sun is heading down, ready to party, or sulk at the bar. The slight light on the windows is very nice too...adds a warm tone to the image.

All that being said...I think a lot of people want to really be impacted by the pain element of the photo. Your photo is a little more out-of-the-box....which is good, but probably wont score high in the challenge. I wish you the best of luck and regardless of this challenge, I do like the image. Keep up the good work! :))
