I expect this to be marked down by some voters due to the subject matter, but... I think it fits.

Unsharpened quite a bit & converted to B&W to reduce the inherent graphic quality.

A truly shocking image well captured. Congrats on a reasonable placing in your second challenge, especially given the subject matter.

Image is a little gruesome for me, "pains" me to look at it, so I guess it fitted the challenge well.

Wow! Placed much higher than I expected to, so I'm very happy, especially since this is only my 2nd challenge entry.

First of all, the composition is exactly as found in my attic, so the background is what it is. No names have been changed to protect the innocent (except to call it a mouse). Surprised no one caught the text on the RAT trap, but WRD just doesn't seem to have the same impact... Anybody feel a little less sympathy for my "model", knowing that he's about 14" long?

Shot in near darkness. Camera flash assisted by a weak flashlight. Many thanks for all the positive comments, and for those who "got" the image.

Awww I hope you didn't really hurt the mouse. Though, I'm guessing you did.

Bet he didn't feel a thing ;0) Background distracts a bit; scored it a 6.

10 from me. The title made me laugh. Great pic!

I'm guessing this critter felt no pain...its death was near instant and quite painless.
With that aside, this photograph conjures up feelings of queasiness and unease, and imagined pain, which is what counts. Nicely done, 7.

People are going to hate this picture. Some may even call PETA. That being said: I love it. It seems well enough appropriate in that pain is not a pretty thing. I like how the mouse is brought to the focus with the blurred background and the appropriate highlighting at the focus. One of my top for this challenge.

I'm sure you'll get some grief for this picture (poor mouse). The focus and lighting came out very good, but the background takes away from the picture a lot.

This picture is rather about immediate death than about pain, but that's something which depends very much from the point of view. For me, it's too gross. For the picture as such I can't find too many appealing elements either. You pushed the contrast too far and the background, which takes about a third of the picture doesn't add to the image. 3.

he was better off....could of been eaten by a snake instead

its screams out pain!!

may be fake and may not, but a bit too graphic for me...good title though. Seems a bit unbalanced, maybe shifting the subject up would help.

Shocking, usually doesn't work with DPCer.

Very bold of you to show this in an animal-rights-gone-mad world.

Well, I am pretty sure I can guess how you are doing and what your other comments look like. This tends to be a very sensative bunch. I think it meets the challenge and it is a technically sound photo. Right off the bat, a 7, but I'm gonna add a point for the ewww factor and give ya an 8. Good Luck!

Pretty gruesome image...I almost find it too "in your face". I'm interested to see how it scores...I'm sure some will be offended. I like the shot though. Good choice on the B&W
