Into the Storm by dsidwellComment: I like the toned-down, ominous feeling of the colors here. Also, really great road shot - the lines of the road and the lines of rain on the horizon are very nice. |

Sign at an old hardware storeby puzzledComment: Originally posted by ubique: I like it too. What does it mean, 'KROKNALEN'? My guess is laundromat. Or maybe Ice Creams. (Bet it doesn't mean 'Hardware", does it?) Either way, it's a very interesting photograph, nice composition and remarkably sharp shadow. I see no reason to prefer a different crop; it looks striking just as it is. |
Haha, you got me to look it up! Glad I did, because my first answer would've been wrong: A "krok" is a hook and a "nål" is a needle. That's true, but a kroknål (one word) is a crochet needle. That's a word I didn't know.
Hmmm, should I change the title to "Sign at an old crochet store?"
Thanks for helping me learn more Swedish. |

Polar Windsby srbrubakerComment: Ah, I wish I would've voted on this challenge. Would've helped out a little (one more higher score out of 233 total votes). Sorry I missed this one, but glad to see it now at least. |

Learning to be Freeby TelehubbieComment: I also think this is a very, very nice image, which would have absolutely received a good score for Independence, but even better, it will be fantastic on your wall at home, with copies given to all your family! I love the way the light is coming from your left with your right hand reaching out to guide your son. |

Finial Snowdriftby srbrubakerComment: This is really a beautiful composition. It looks like the image is slightly off level, but that does not detract - it rather adds to the effect somehow.
Two general comments I have about the shots in your portfolio is that I'd love to see how you do with a tripod when you do some of these handhelds. The reason I say that is because I suspect the sharpness from using a tripod would add an extra punch to your already very good compositions. The other general comment is that you really do a great job with black and white! |

Point Judith Lightby rayg544Comment: This is beautiful! Before I moved to Sweden, I lived about two miles from here. Looks like you had a beautiful day. The DOF is excellent. |
