Scissor Kickby AlexSaberiComment: This is a cool move to observe, even better to photograph! ;^) Tough lighting situation here. The sun is a little blown out but I don't see much choice without some supplemental lighting to use on the soccer player from this angle. You've stopped the motion pretty well. The more I think about it the more I wish the player was exposed (lit) a little more. How about fill-flash with the EV set to -1.7 or so? Just a thought. Cool pic overall. Good luck in the challenge. |

killer "B"by gocComment: Almost looks like it's sitting on a piece of glass. I'm not saying it is, but it's so still...good job on stopping the motion. Only problems I see with this are the subject (it's a bit static, nothing else going on - so you have to be a bee lover to really like it), it looks a little over-sharpened, and the subject is centered (not always terrible, but there are those that are going to call you on it). All of this is JMO of course. ;^) Good luck in the challenge. |

Airby TerramarComment: Love the shadow. I'll bet you do too! ;^) Very good job of stopping the motion here, especially the skateboard. You may take a minor hit on the slight blur of the boarder. The burning of the edges is discrete enough and effective in bringing the viewers eye to center. The color tone seems a little green to me, but I'm not the best with colors. You should do pretty well with this. Good luck in the challenge. |

Lickby PixelstateComment: Cat lovers will be all over this one! ;^) Myself included. Great detail and I like your choice to go B/W tone. How in the world did you get this shot anyway? Just wait? After feeding? Hmmm. Well, I hope this does well for you. No, it's not as high tech or as fancy as some of the light bulb or splash shots, but it's fun...so good luck. |

Water Spray @ 1/8000th of a Secondby hyperfocalComment: This is kind of cool. Amazing how many particles there are in that spray when you get this kind of detail. Well captured. Simple, fun, sharp, well lit...hmmm, should do ok with this. ;^) Good luck. |

Geronimoby DefyTimeComment: Hey this is fun! The bland sky worked in your favor on this one. ;^) Looks like an overcast, flat kind of day for shooting. You appear to be pretty deep on aperture as the background is all in focus. Don't know if you could have done it (may have been too far back from the subject), but a shallower aperture could have blurred that bg out some. Hmmm...nevermind on the bg blur thing - something about hyperfocal distance I think would have prevented it from where you were standing. I get the impression you were trying to include a good portion of the scene for context. Did you try cropping this down some - bottom and right - to get the jumper off-center more and to make him a larger subject for your image? Just a thought. Anyway, good luck in the challenge. |

Holy %*&!by MattOComment: The combination of title and facial expressions brought a smile to my face. Thanks for that. ;^) This is fun to look at and you've certainly stopped the motion in an acceptable fashion. I almost wish this was a little tighter in composition but then you would lose the context of the place and situation. Perhaps some light gaussian blur to the left and right of the chute would have helped some? Just a thought. Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

The Questby aznymComment: I would have been tempted to ADD grain to this for an artistic look. Probably wouldn't have scored well however. ;^) As is, there is a little noise in the sky although it looks like you've applied some noise reduction to it already. The birds are WAY cool. Love the angle. You've stopped the motion pretty well. Would be a stronger image if the birds were a little sharper...the image overall seems soft. JMO of course. ;^) Good luck in the challenge. |

English Heritageby alpharichComment: I've seen concrete/stone look like that before. It's when I used too much NI! ;^) You've lost detail with the noise reduction. The motion of the flag is stopped quite nicely. This image could stand a slight shift to the left in rotation (1 or 2 degrees) as it's not lined up horizontally. Good luck in the challenge. |

Tempest in a Cupby LucidLotusComment: Oh...too bad you didn't have a star filter on. Those points of light would have lite up beautifully! As it is you're probably getting some comments on the lighting being too harsh and the DOF too shallow (back edge of dish is OOF). The top drip ball (what do you call it?) is a little blurry. If that could have been sharp like the center of the dish I think some of the other items I've pointed out would have been inconsequential. Very close to having a top top image here...good luck and keep at it! ;^) |
