Window Seatby hokieComment: Very nice. I can't see how you could have "driven home" the idea any better. I'm not sure I fully understand the rule of 3rds, but the front of the bus does sort of intersect there. The horizon is nice and straight. The angle is great. Bravo. |

Daddy!by razwanComment: Definitely a frightening picture and probably a vivid memory for some. I don't like this picture BECAUSE of strong negative emotion it envokes, and that is why it deserves a "10." However, the image was a bit dark and hard to make out, so I knocked off a point. |

In Memoryby rocco22Comment: You caught the time-of-day just right. The shadows and the natual light focused on the swing make this an excellent picture. |

The Swingby pauldComment: There were so many swing pictures this time I am torn in voting on them. Some have merits in one way while others in other ways. What I liked: The character of the tree bow and trunk add to this picture. A more closely framed shot would have (in my opinion) been better in ths instance. I don't know how varied and intense/subdued natural lighting is where you are at, but if possible, try returning here at different times of day to see of the shadows and lighting accentuate the shot. |

What Little Girls are Made Of...by tee tahComment: Beautiful setup and shot. (My wife and raised two girls. We love them dearly, but they helped me appreciate that rhyme is nothing more than just a rhyme. They fought worse than my brother and I!) |

Mischiefmakers Toolsby TrexXComment: You conveyed your idea very well, but from what I am learning of "artistic" value here on dpc, you might have done better by eliminating some of the props. One possible alternative would have been to have merely the slingshot sticking out of the back of a pair of jeans draped over a blue chair. The stones could have been on the seat of the chair. Please understand I am not telling you how take pictures, merely suggesting an alternative. |

Independence!by focusComment: thanks to all for the great comments here. I readily admit the photo has a "busy" background. Walmart has the odd policy about letting you take things without paying for them. :-) I took the picture with the bike on the rack. It was cropped to emphasize the one bike as well as possible. I am learning plenty about presentation here. |

Yes, sir!by stephanComment: First off, this is an excellent picture. I love the exposure, the framing and composition. However, conveying the theme was carried more by the title than the picture. Another entrant submitted "Daddy!," showing a silhouette of a man holding a belt. To me, that conveyed the idea without needing to read the title. |

childhood fascination of little thingsby notashamdComment: Lighting for the shot is very good and you've centered the subject well. Your title indicates to me that you were trying to convey an idea but struggled with the setting. I don't know how you could have conveyed the idea without actually having a child in the picture (which was not permitted), so if i had any advice for you, it would be- if you can't make the shot tell the story, shoot something else. I have had to let go a number of ideas because I couldn't think of a way to make it work. Being here on dpc, I have seen people who have more technical and artistic ability than I do and DID come up with a way to tell a whole story in a shot. One picture still fresh in my mind is the person that took the pencil shot that showed a bunch of stubby pencils coming out of dirt and above them the "picture" of what the pencils should have looked like. Others tried to do similar shots, but in my mind this one person told a whole story in the picture alone. |
