At first, this doesn't scream childhood, however I do remember trying to catch flies in the house. Later in the fall when it got cold and they got slow. This is a good photo. i am curious to find out what the white lines are near the flies butt toward the bottom left of the photo. You can see it even through the flies wing. I like the colors that show up on his wings. Kind of metallic looking. Great photo and good luck in the challenge.

The reflection on his back is a little distracting. 5.

Hope you weren't one of those that pulled the wings off.....Nice capture of the colors on the fly. However, the fly could be a little more in focus.

It looks fake.

Lighting for the shot is very good and you've centered the subject well.
Your title indicates to me that you were trying to convey an idea but struggled with the setting. I don't know how you could have conveyed the idea without actually having a child in the picture (which was not permitted), so if i had any advice for you, it would be- if you can't make the shot tell the story, shoot something else. I have had to let go a number of ideas because I couldn't think of a way to make it work. Being here on dpc, I have seen people who have more technical and artistic ability than I do and DID come up with a way to tell a whole story in a shot. One picture still fresh in my mind is the person that took the pencil shot that showed a bunch of stubby pencils coming out of dirt and above them the "picture" of what the pencils should have looked like. Others tried to do similar shots, but in my mind this one person told a whole story in the picture alone.

More than a stretch without the title! 2 Jak.

Eeeuuw :)
Needs more focus and I don't like the background, there's something icky about it. Perhaps that's the intention?

Needs to be sharper.

interesting! These little guys are not easy to photograph... they like to fly away when I get too close... good shot :) - jmsetzler

While this is quite a nice macro of a fly, it just doesn't meet the challenge for me. Sorry. 3

Sorry, but the title alone does not qualify this for a 'childhood without children' theme. Geez!

get the fly swatter!

Nice fly shot. Why are it's wings still on it's body? (cruel child thing....) 7 Swash

Very good picture but doesn't really fit the topic.
