contourby mesmerajComment: Nice pic. I like the pose, the slight lighting of the subject and there is something very spicy about the edges where the garment has altered the smooth lines of contour.

Breadwinner, mother of five by whiteroomComment: I will also add that I felt this was best in challenge. WOW.
The fact that she sells peanuts for a living really hits home with me. I spoke with a vendor in TaiZhong last weekend who is a single mother of two high-school aged boys.
She was very strong, and you could see that she worked very hard. My friend talked to her for a little while and it was touching how she expressed her fears when she said that if she got sick and could not work, she would sit at home and cry all day. (there is no real social assistance in Taiwan and their education system is fiercely competitive and hierarchical)
This mother you have portrayed in Durban speaks a similar tale, yet hinging as it does on the sale of peanuts has a sharp potency to be something immensely powerful and touching.
Nice work. Nice choice. |

What do you mean this wasn't my present?by jramboComment: I like the use of CAT in the picture ;)
Don't worry about getting your picture ripped off - the picture is only 640x480. Nobody can sell that big of a picture.
So don't worry about putting your name in the pic, your name will only be unknown for the week of voting.
Keep trying! |

rosa parks revisitedby dizzydean3Comment: I think the weirdest thing about this pic is the tree on the roof. Strange place for a tree.
Alternate title suggestion: Just a little to the right... |

"Oops, you dropped him."by nsbca7Comment: After the challenge.
Well, I liked it before and I still like it. Oddly, the thing that really makes me like it is the sharpness at the bottom of the closer cop's boot.
The picture does indeed look almost surreal.
Please write some info so we can read the interesting story here.
The moral of the story: don't run and don't fight back? |

Tangerine gone wrongby beafliesComment: Are you sure this is a tangerine? When I worked at the health food store, we got a fruit in that looked like this called Buddha's Fingers (in the catalogue) It has very little flesh inside, but you use the peel instead.
Here in Taiwan, around this time of the year, you get these in stores for Chinese New Year time.
And the HUMUNGOUS mandarin oranges, bigger than a child's head... hmmm got me thinking about a shot...
If this is a tangerine, that's weird! |

Honey I Burnt the Toastby AlexSaberiComment: This is great, Having seen the result, I would have tried again with the peice on the left in the foreground and the peice on the right slightly back to get the rest of that smoke.
Looks pretty good though. |
