Drink & Drive

Drink & Drive

Interesting title.

I wonder how many others will catch on the twist of having it stated as a positive "drink and drive" vs "Don't Drink and Drive"...

It then becomes "drink and drive and you get this"

Very nicely encapsulated and well presented with a strong urban PJ feel.

I feel that the B&W treatment is a good choice here, but I'm finding something about it a bit uncomfortable. Maybe it's the sharpness. Maybe it's the slight jaggies in the taxi... Have you tried using multiple step-downs for resize for web instead of one big jump? It's not always perfect, but it can sometimes help. There is of course an actual limit to certain things in 640x480...

It's a pretty clear portrait, but I'm having trouble with linking it to the meaning of the saying *doing something* until you are blue in the face... The portrait is too restive for me to link with this saying. The face is not nearly blue enough either.

Silly non-American that I am, I've never heard of this saying.

I like this picture though.

I like the Black and white BG idea, but don't forget to bring the subject AWAY from the background. All those wrinkles would pretty much disappear in the white sheet if you moved the subject forward another 6 inches or more.

Also, if you deliberately light the BG, it will help get rid of shadows from wrinkles. Same if you put the light behind the sheet.

Not to worry, I made a similar BG lighting mistake on my submission and needed to work hard to correct for it after the shot was taken. :)

Dandelions?

There are some parts of this picture I like, but I get a bit of a disconnected feeling with regards to the title. There doesn't appear to be any connection to the actual meaning of the saying, regardless of what kind of flower they are.

Never heard this saying before, but I like it!

Be careful with using direct on-camera flash. It gives the picture a look that isn't really all that desirable.

Cool beans! I like this. What a brilliant way to use a duotone!

It would even be cooler IMHO with a two-tone border to match the highlights and shadows.

I love the look on the face of the mantis in the top left.

I might have given a bit different title: It's an Uphill Climb to the Top, But for What?

It's not necessarily something that would have helped the pic in any way, I just thought it might tie in the top guy.

I like it, so I'm going to exercise my right to give it a 10!

SWEET!

Nice use of a centered comp, balancing it with leading lines to the third.

I don't know what you did to get the BG like this (maybe a graduated ND filter flipped the other way?), but it looks fantastic!

Of course, I'm a sucker for bikes and long lonely rides through the mist... (just had a 3 hour bike ride this evening that pretty much fit that description...)

Just for fun, I'm going to give this a 10. I like it!

This would probably be nicer and more potent if it were cropped in much tighter to the bear's face. Looks a bit too much like a zoo pic with this DOF too.. Probably not much you could do about that though.

I would like to see more of the bear's face.

It might even be worthwhile to use a square crop and leave off the somewhat relaxed looking back foot to make it look more like the bear is climbing over a log barrier or something?
