Footjam Whipby MadMan2kComment: You know a guy is confident on his wheels when he runs his ride without brakes.
Photographically, this also kicks some serios tail... Or whips some tail... |

The Sacred Bridge, Nikkoby Pug-HComment: Man, isn't it great living in Asia?
Sweet bridge... you got the colors really nicely and good lines too. Nice color contrast to the trees too... You may not have had anything to do with that though :)
I'm feeling nitpicky towards the straightness and level of the lines... Not enough to say anything concrete though... |

_MG_8314-01edit.jpgby pidgeComment: Nice BG! The resizing may be responsible, but I feel that the detail in his face is quite indistinct... It also seems like the backlight on his face is just a bit weak, as the shadow on the far side is a bit strong.
Also, did you notice that your big white sheet is dirty in the bottom right? Clone work?
It's a pretty damned fine studio pic though. Just right for a catalogue. |

Still, againby Rae-AnnComment: I know that lots of people hate comments about titles, but I'm not voting based on it...
I really like this title. It's got a great dual meaning that makes the already attractive picture even more attractive.
Still as in no movement, but still as in still around, and again lends to the repetition both in the drizzled wax and in the obvious cycle that a candle and holder goes through.
Very nice. |

Diana's Possessed Carrotby BigKComment: Ok, please don't take this as a 'narrow minded comment' because I am pretty open here. I used to write some small time fantasy fiction for a couple of sites on the net...
I am going to say that I found the pic hard to vote on because the subject of the title did not match the subject of the photo.
I looked at a lot of things in this pic, including the lighting, the composition, the makeup, the lines, the colors, and in the end, I couldn't come up with a vote. I skipped it. I don't do this very often at all.
What I think might be the issue rather than the 'possessed' quality of the carrot is the balance between your two subjects. I think you have tried to balance them a bit too much. The picture seems to be about as much about 'Diana' as it is about the carrot...
The title is worded in such a way that the carrot should take center stage and the model should be playing second fiddle.
There are a few different ways that could have been accomplished. I would probably have gone for either DOF or Lighting to shift the balance ever so slightly towards the carrot.
Perhaps pushing the saturation a bit on the carrot and darkening everything else a bit might keep the picture as is, but make it more suited to the title.
Just some ideas...

Death Pond Crimeby TransitComment: Curious how filthy the hands and head are, but how clean the coat is?
Maybe a white t-shirt and bare arms/shoulders with mud all over might have worked better for me? More savage. |

Dead Photographers Cultby ClubJuggleComment: Looks good. I would like to see a bit less definition in the cloak in the center, near the camera, giving more of a 'floating' look...
The rest of the cloak looks pretty good, save for the wrinkly bits on the left of the pic...
I don't mind that the camera is not perfectly aligned, it contributes to the 'floaty' feel. |

Don't Patronize Conwayby DefyTimeComment: Came back to this as one of my faves in the challenge.
Incidentally, I think the 'technical flaws' such as lighting and focus are perfectly complemented by the suit...
It reminds me very much of Tom Cruise's suit in Collateral which the director commented in the DVD voice-over was intended to look like a good suit, tailor, but probably tailored in MongKok, HongKong rather than in Milan or something...
This suit is not of that level of quality, but it has a similar appropriateness for the rest of the shot. |
