The lens flare is very blown out which takes away from this shot, if you are going to attempt something like this, you would need to under expose it a lot more. Also the border is overly complicated.

There have been images in this style before on DPC, but I have never found them as hard to look at as this image. I guess the thing is that no matter where you look in the mage you are faced by the grim reality of what the subject is about to do. Also the thoughts of why such a young attractive person would be about to take her own life?
On a technical note the composition is spot on as is the colour and the use of soft focus really works well here in my opinion. 10.

Go St. Louis!!! The focus is slightly soft, but I'll let that go as it's clearly quite dark and you would have had little opertunity to steady the camera against anything. Meets the challenge well, good luck.

I'm not sure I like the use of the sepia tone, which gives photos a very dated look, however surfing has the feeling of a modern activity. I therefore think black and white may have better suited the image.

I think the composition is lacking slightly, I would prefer the surfer on the right hand side of the image so he would be moving into the photograph. Where he is positioned it looks like he is moving out of the frame especially as the front of the surfboard is copped. However a great capture that I should imagine was difficult to get. 7

I dont know how easy it would have been but shots of animals tend to look better when shot at their eye level, try and get as close to the ground as you can when shooting an animal like this.

I think you would have done better to take this shot portrait and stand a little further back to get the full height of the person.

There is nothing that really makes this photo stand out, I think a white boarder would have framed it better, also you should have cropped out the post at the bottom.
