Stunning black & white portrait. Nice use of natural light. The squinted eyes and half-open mouth as well as the unkempt hair and beard all add to the impression (to me at least) of an old man at the fringe of society and, perhaps, sanity. ....10....

I'm one of those for whom the sight of blood, even in the context of the miracle of a new little life, is disturbing. Looking beyond that, I find this a powerfull image. Think it would be better if processed as the mirror image, with the baby facing to the right. I read years ago that Westerners read from left-to-right and that photos that flow the other way are sometimes at a subconscious level disturbing to that audience, don't know if it's true, but just a thought. ...7...
