Basket Caseby GotchaComment: Not a bad shot, it's very much the character of LA, but I would have liked to see some light on his face.

Vision of Hopeby thelselComment: I don't disagree that it's a fine photo, but looking at the rest there was some more original images that could have ranked higher. I feel that the whole eye thing is overdone and the whole flag thing in the eye is a classic in its own right. However, your execution is flawless and it truly deserves to be noticed. |

Off The Lipby ScottKComment: I have never known neat image for it's sharpness...for it's softening yes---but you pulled it off. I would not say that you oversharpened. Having taken photos like this--off that same pier even I would say you did an amazing job.
Well worth your win! |

Home and Designby sherComment: This is worthy of a ribbon....even a blue ribbon! This is by far one of the best interior shots I've seen on here in a long time. Your exposure is perfect all the way around. You have detail in your deepest shadows under the second run of the stair, your pillar that your statue stands on has some detail (probably more had this been a bigger image) and your highlights are perfect. I'm jealous!
Do you do this professionally? If not, you might consider it. I've worked closely with interior photographers and I know when I setup a shot this one shot would take well over 1.5 hours to set up with the right light. You did amazing. |

Butterfly Fantasyby dsidwellComment: A very nice shot, but I bet had you disclosed they were fake people would have judged you accordingly.
Fake butterflies don't fly; you implied that you attempted to get them flying and then state that you were simply mysterious with the execution of the photo.

The birth of.....by psychephylaxComment: Psyche, normally I wouldn't take the time to comment after the fact, but since I didn't bother to vote on this particular challenge I wanted to tell you that for once I actually found your photo to really out do most of the photos above yours, not to mention it fully outdid at least 2 of the 3 winners. Among the obvious technical wonderments of this photo lies pure emotion and meaning. Something people often lack, something many of the photos here lack. I commend you, but most of all I commend you for having the guts to upload a meaningful photo among the new crayons and pencils. Jessica (flummox) |
