Ghostwriterby gkochComment: There is mostly good taste in this elegant composition, which surpasses the technical aspects, and makes it a very atractive and original image. My favorite for this week. |

1492by amonteforteComment: Well, at least I had a lot of fun taking these pictures during my beach weekend... (I would like to share some of the out-takes from this challenge, it was probably my hardest yet to choose from one single photo). There was nothing strange under the pencils, just plain sea water returning over a little ditch I carved in front of the pencil’s for that purpose. My idea was to get into focus the 3 background layers of waves, the moving water under the pencils, and the pencils, with as much detail as possible with my actual camera. I was thinking of the landing from the 3 caravels from Columbus’s journey, thus the little understood title. jsabbarton's interpretation was right on the money, and I believe jmsetzler's was just as good; I was happy of the fact that you caught my idea. Thanks to all for your time to comment on my effort. |

FaberCastellby john22132Comment: Literally cool! The focus is very clean, but I wonder why you cropped out both tips of the pencil. |

Negative Space Odysseyby FrooberComment: I liked your composition very much. Your pencils are the most elegant, and least used by other photographers this week. I only wonder about the crack in the right side pencil's eraser. One of my 3 favorites to win this week. |

Chip Off The Old Blockby focusComment: This is one of my favorite 3 for this week. I'm still wondering how you achieved it. I would have chosen a black background rather than the green carpet. Why did you crop out so much of the pencils in the bottom? The ghostly pencils on the wood block are very cool. |

KEEPER OF DREAMSby karolComment: Nice pic. I would have cut with the cropping the lower right edge to disapear the redish portion. I like the detail of the water drops and the combination of the blue surface against the background. |
