All your comments have been very kind and constructive. I am really grateful for the time you took to make them, and I'll be sure to learn from your recommendations. Thank you all.

The only reason this shot didn't get a ribbon is that there is a group of people that REALLY don't like children (or at least not photos of them)... Not sure why that is...

Beautiful. Expressions on both faces are excellent and the lighting and close cropping both work well. 10 from me.

That is a cute little smile. Definately depict something new. I feel the "aww" in this picture. I think the framing is a little tight, maybe back it up a bit so we get a wider view. The lighting gets a bit bright towards the bottom, but the rest of the photo is perfectly lit. No strange shadows, no extremely shiny spots. Congrats and good luck with the challenge.

Beautiful! I love everything about it. The peace and contentment of this baby and Mom are so clearly depicted here. One of my 3 top images. 10 Grayce...aka...gracious

This is a very nice photo of a very tender moment. I think you might have turned up the color saturation, but if so, you have did it well. I'm not fond of baby shots, but even so, I am raising your score from a 7 to an 8. Nice job! Swash

I don't normaly rate baby pictures high because they are normaly snapshots. But you have captured the intamacy between mother and child in a technicaly supurb photograph. One of my nines for this week.

Excellent work, composition and subject.
At last a baby picture that shows the joy of new parenthood and does not obscure the infant's face.
Print it LARGE and Frame it! This is a keeper!! 10 crisa58

This is absolutely beautiful. I don't generally respond to baby photos particularly well. I think that people who have children forget that those of us who don't might not feel the same way they do when we see a photo of their baby. But this photo shows me the emotions that exist between a mother and her baby, in a very direct, warm, genuine way. Putting their faces together and framing them so tightly gives a great sense of scale to the newborn, makes it seem tiny and vulnerable, and makes the mother's face seem protecting and loving. 10 from me! - lisae

Nicely done! I like the expression on the little guy/gal's face, and the content look of mom. (Sorry, it's so rough to tell gender at that age!)
08/12/2002 05:32:00 PM
That is one satisfied expression on baby's face and a tired and happy one on mum. Baby clothes seem a bit too harshly white.
