Great concept - I do see shallow depth of field in play here - but I find that I wish that there were more spools blurred where only one spool was sharp.

I scored this well because it is a great use of shallow depth of field. However, I find myself wishing that the front piece was the sharp one and the rest faded into the blur.

Great shot with sharp details on all the coins. I like the composition with the coin's edges providing great use of line. The problem, however, is that this photo does not meet the challenge (IMHO) of shallow depth of field. Everything here is in sharp focus. Had you shot this from a slightly different angle using a smaller f/stop such that only a small part of the frame (perhaps the ridge on the California coin) was sharply focused and the rest blurred- it would have gotten a higher score from me.

Everything in this photo is too sharp for the shallow depth of field challenge - also it is obvious that you used flash - turning off the flash, using existing light and having only the ornament sharp would have been better.
