This is a very interesting and detailed work. It is very well constructed. However, the shot required more planning. This is something I would have considered the best time of day as critical. I would examined it in the early morning sun, the late sun etc. If forced to do at time of day you selected, I would have placed a couple of people holding sheets to help reflect the available light. Of course, this makes it a project.
However, It may have been more effective to have shot around it, selecting not the whole image but part. This would also allow the texture of the sand to show. For example, I would have aimed the camera close to the entrance. This would include the entrance and give the viewer this way into the picture. Such a view may have proven very extraordinary.
