Nice shot and I like the motion of whatever that thing's called. But I think it could benefit from some more contrast and a less distracting background.

I think the negative space would have worked better if you pulled back to show the entire book in a corner of the frame. Also, the focus is off and there's a lot of jpeg compression due to the small file size.

I think this could have been an effective shot if you silhouetted the girl and had the window properly exposed. Also, the focus is off.

The sky, water and clouds make for a dramatic backdrop. I think you'd have a stronger shot if you framed the girl tighter.

As someone who studied archaeology, I like shots like this. But those trees are extremely distracting. Maybe a different angle would have made them less obvious.

Deosn't look too evil to me. Maybe a knife in the doll's hand would have helped.

There's a bit too much grain here. Not sure if it's the camera or if you had to crop a lot. The bear looks a little too relaxed to be scary.

Cool shot, but IMO no fear.
No reprieve.

First, thank you everyone for the comments.

So this is what I get for submitting a not-so-obvious pic lol. I figured that some people wouldn't get it, but I didn't think it would be this bad. Yes, I know it is blurry.

OK, so it's a picture of the Grim Reaper reflected in my eye.

It was so tight because:
1. I didn't want the eye to be so obvious.
2. I didn't want the reaper to be too small.
3. I was trying out a new technique.
4. I didn't want this to be just another picture of an eye that happened to have a reflection in it.

I agree that it could be sharper, but because of the nature of the fear I wanted to keep it blurry. In my mind death is not a black and white thing that appears crystal clear and tack sharp. I know this is difficult to convey just with a picture.

The title is loosely based on a scene in "The Seventh Seal" where the knight is playing chess with Death. If I titled it "Grim Reaper in the Shadows" or something I'm sure more people would have understood it... oh well...

So finally, I realize there are a few things I could have done better, but in general the result I got was the one I wanted.

I think this would have a stronger connection with fear if someone else was yanking his tooth out. But it's still a cool shot. The unshven face is a nice touch. But the wart? Nasty.
