Letting Go of Three Candles

I had my monitor misadjusted when I submitted my entry and it was far too dark. Nevertheless, the original shot was kind of bad. There was glare reflected off the mirror on to my camera lens and the black shirt that I used as a backdrop was not at all black in the picture itself. So, all in all, even though I like the composition and colors, this photo received far higher votes than I believe it deserved.

Great colors. Amazing processing. I can read the Newcastle Library 1812 1891 sign above the door with no effort. They must have just finished restoration, the paint is spotless. Superb job. This submission is in a class by itself.

Really neat clock. Overall a nice clean image. However, there are bubble like processing artifacts in the sky near the edges of the building. Perhaps just do noise reduction on sky only in separate level? It is also a joy to be able to see into windows. An 8.

Good detail in shadows. Some color bleeding of building into sky. Probably an artifact of noise reduction for sky. Perhaps if you place sky on separate level prior to noise reduction, you can redude bleed. A 7.

Great subject for winter architecture. This was obviously taken on a stormy day under very low light conditions. More light would certainly have raised my appraisal of this picture. A 4.
